Ecruteak is known as "A Historical City Where the Past Meets the Present", a fitting title, reflected in its buildings' traditional Japanese architecture. It has a role in many legends, such as those of Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, and Ho-Oh. Pokémon Trainers often come to Ecruteak City in order to win the Fog Badge from Morty, the Ecruteak Gym Leader who specializes in Ghost-type Pokémon.
